The U.S. might be getting their first reality-star-turned-Congressman. Sean Duffy, the conservative guy on MTV’s “Real World: Boston” is now the front-runner to fill the seat left vacant by Wisconsin Rep. David Obey who will not be running for reelection.
Duffy, who spent 1997 as one of 7 roommates “getting real” in Boston, told The Daily Caller in Wisconsin that his rising campaign for the seat probably played a part in Obey’s retirement after 41 years in office.
“If I was to guess, I’d guess that was one of the considerations,” he said. The NRCC, a committee set up to get Republicans elected to Congress, was more confident: “It was Sean Duffy and his grassroots-powered campaign that forced Dave Obey into retirement.”
