As millions keep asking why Simon Cowell decided to hit the eject button on American Idol, the famously curmudgeon British judge and producer has begun the recruiting process for his new State-side version of his hit U.K. show The X Factor.
Cowell is reportedly in discussions with former American Idol judge and pal Paula Abdul along with current X Factor U.K. judge, 26-year-old Cheryl Cole. Hiring both Abdul and Cole would easily make the judging relationship on the new X Factor a smash since all three know each rather intimately. Enlisting Abdul, who quit Idol during a highly publicized contract dispute last year, would add to the mix and would usher in almost the original American Idol team.
