“Friday Night Lights” vet Zach Gilford is returning to television in a new series from the creator of “Grey’s Anatomy”.
Gilford just landed a role in producer Shonda Rhimes’ “Off the Map,” a medical drama that follows a group of hot young doctors working at an understaffed clinic in the South American jungle.
Gilford is joining the cast as the “all-American frat boy” plastic surgeon, according to the actor himself. The character is nothing like FNL’s noble quarterback Matt Saracen.
“[‘Map’ co-creator Jenna Bans] told me she loves ‘FNL,’ but wants to distance me from that role as much as possible. [Something] that excited me,” Gilford said.
