Heroes Season 3 - Watch the Trailers Online
By The Guru | August 27, 2008
The new season of NBC’s “Heroes” officially begins on September 22 and there’s quite a lot of buzz this time around, especially since the first and second episodes are airing back to back. The premiere episode, which is titled, “The Second Coming,” is scheduled to premiere after a special one hour “catch up” episode, which is being aired in case viewers may have missed the last episode of Season 2. According to Executive Producer and Director Allan Arkush, the show will pick up exactly where it left off, with a few surprises thrown in for good measure, including a new series regular and other goodies.
According to the official description for the new episode released by NBC, the last time we saw Nathan Petrelli, he had been hit by the bullet of an assassin, which leads several characters on a spiritual journey to explain his power of flight. Meanwhile, his younger brother Peter will watch as the future and present collide and his powers will lead him to discover that the only way to end the catastrophic moment facing the world is to do the unimaginable.
What about Niki? Was she blown into a million tiny pieces? How about Hiro? Will he turn to his “warrior” side?
NBC reveals an act of heroism will unveil an amazing secret about Niki, while in Japan, Hiro will continue to use his ability to pierce the space-time continuum and manipulate time to leap into wild, international adventures with his best friend, Ando.
Serial killer Sylar will continue to accumulate other people’s abilities, which will eventually lead him to the Bennet house. Bound to a secret company with a keen interest in people like his daughter, “H.R.G.,” (aka Noah Bennet), will find new purpose when his most dangerous, fantastic foes break out of custody, while Claire struggles to define her identity and place in the world.
Arkush also revealed that a major aspect of the storyline this season will focus on the characters’ powers; where they came from, their nature, how the power affects each individual character, or as Arkush likes to say, “The actual genetic essence of the power.”
I don’t know about you, but I think this season has “chaos theory” written all over it.
Check out this video for a great preview of what’s in store and don’t miss great clips from heroestheseries.com, which has an early clip preview. There’s also a good preview of the full promo over at You Tube, which you can see by clicking here.

Watch the Office Season 5 - Begins September 25th
By The Guru | August 26, 2008
Mark your calendars! Season 5 of NBC’s hit, “The Office,” officially begins on Thursday, September 25 at 9:00 pm/ET with a full one hour episode to kick it all off. Fans can look forward to 28 new Dunder-Mifflin episodes, all lined up for the new fall season.
Rumors run wild about what to expect as NBC’s highest rated sitcom goes into its’ fifth season, including two love-triangles (Dwight/Angela/Andy and Jan/Michael/Holly) in the season opener - and speaking of Holly, look for her to call a meeting in the second episode to address the practice of business ethics and a non-participating branch of Dunder-Mifflin. Hmmm….
Pam is off to Pratt Art School and “Mad Men” fans can look forward to seeing Rich Sommer, who plays Harry Crane on the highly rated AMC series, as a fellow classmate in the premiere episode. Will Sommer’s character turn out to be Jan’s sperm donor? Does he have a connection to Pam and by the way, just who will be Pam’s replacement while she’s gone? Will Michael really make the office throw a baby shower for a baby that isn’t even his? And the question, as always, remains – will Jim ever pop the question to Pam so we can have an awesome office engagement party? Will they really have a long distance relationship and if so, just how will it all work out?
Rumors have also been swirling about a former cast member returning to Dunder-Mifflin and while many names have been tossed about and former employees speculated, far as I can tell, this little secret is being kept under some very big wraps. Any guesses?
What’s happened to Toby and Ryan? Have we seen the last of these two? Did Toby end up in a Costa Rican hospital? Rumors say that Ryan will be back, but have we seen the last of Toby? I say don’t count on it.
While rumors abound concerning what’s in store for fans this season, one thing is a constant and steadfast comfort; Regional Manager Michael Scott isn’t going anywhere - Steve Carell has signed on for 3 more seasons.
Look for “The Office” to air a special episode on February 1st immediately after the Super Bowl and while the much anticipated “Office” spin-off is said to still be in development, reportedly it’s not the new show which stars Amy Pohler. Sources say that while Pohler’s show will have a similar style and tone since it comes from the same great team who bring us “The Office,” it’s not to be confused or mistaken for the official “Office” spin-off.
Stay Tuned!

Places to Rent Blu-ray Movies
By The Guru | August 22, 2008
A long, long time ago, when I was just a child, I got my first DVD player. My first DVD player was made of what seemed to be pure steel and it was approximately the size of a twin bed. I think it cost some crazy amount, and I loved it. The only problem was, it was almost impossible to find DVDs for it. I used to go to the local video store and browse the selection of twenty or so DVDs, make a few selections, and religiously watch the same movies on DVD just because I was one of the few people who had a DVD player. When I first got my Blu-ray Player, I was afraid it was going to be the same thing. Luckily though, technology is moving along a little faster now, and there are a lot of places that have a wide selection of Blu-ray discs.
Netflix
Netflix is constantly increasing the amount of Blu-ray discs that they have. Currently, they carry over 900 of the discs, and that number is continuing to grow. They have the new releases that you want to see in Blu-ray, so it is definitely worth a look. With the selection that Netflix carries, you won’t be stuck watching the same Keanu Reeves movies over and over again while you get drunk so you can trick yourself into thinking his acting is good. Actually, if you EVER go into a video store and the only movies they carry in Blu-ray are Keanu Reeves’ movies, walk away. There is something crazy going on in there.
Blockbuster
Blockbuster gives Blu-ray fans two options. You can either rent Blu-ray discs online, or you can go to one of the 17,000 stores that carry the discs. Just like Netflix, Blockbuster is working on expanding their Blu-ray inventory, so you will have a good chance of finding what you want.
It is getting easier than ever to find Blu-ray discs to rent. We are getting much better at evolving and adapting to new technology. Eventually, the Blu-ray disc will take the place of the DVD altogether. Until that time comes, we’re going to have to be nice and share movie shelves with those standard definition DVDs.

NFL Sunday Ticket 2008
By The Guru | August 18, 2008
It’s a common complaint of NFL football fans. The best games are out of network, and the out of network games are not televised in your area. If you are sick of catching up on the game by watching Sports Center, sign up for the NFL Sunday Ticket with DirecTV. You won’t have to worry about missing an NFL game again, even if it is out of network.
Up to 14 Games a Week
You don’t have to worry about just catching the most popular matchups. Maybe you cheer for the underdog, and the underdog doesn’t make it to the television screen very often. With the NFL Sunday ticket you will get up to fourteen games a week. That means you will even get a chance to see your favorite team, that hasn’t seen the Super Bowl since leather helmets went out of style.
DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket Vs. Cable
It is no contest. DirecTV blows cable away when it comes to NFL football. Cable viewers can expect to see around four games a week. DirecTV brings an average of ten more games a week, which means that NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers can watch over 200 games a season. That’s like having season tickets to every NFL team.
NFL Season Ticket Super Fan
What if you want to watch in HD? There is a separate NFL Sunday Ticket package for you, with all of the things that the regular season ticket package has, and then some.
Game Mix
Sometimes, there are just too many games on to focus on one. If you have HD, you can get Game Mix with the NFL Sunday Ticket. With Game Mix, you can watch eight games on one screen.
Also, the Super Fan package broadcasts almost every game in HD, and you will also get the Red Zone channel in HD.
You can’t call yourself a football fan unless you watch the games. Recaps on the news are not even close to the same as watching the games, play for play. If you are truly an NFL fan, take advantage of the most powerful NFL football package to hit television sets.

How to Get Local HD Channels with Dish Network
By The Guru | August 17, 2008
Many people have HD channels, but for some reason they fail to get their local channels in HD. That means that they are watching their local channels with a less than stellar picture. You can get your local channels in HD with Dish Network when you get one of their TurboHD packages.
How it Works
If you have one of the three TurboHD packages, you can add local channels in HD for an extra $5. If you have a TurboHD package and already subscribe to local channels in standard definition, you can switch those local channels over to HD at no additional cost.
Why Get Local Channels in HD
Most people watch their local channels the majority of the time. Those are the channels that broadcast network television shows. Therefore, if you love HD, it only makes sense to get your local channels in HD as well. You will get so much more out of the HD experience by having local channels in HD.
Included Channels
Visit Dish Network online to see what local channels are available in HD in your viewing area. Also, take a look and see what channels are coming soon to your market, as Dish Network is constantly updating the HD channels that they offer.
Many areas have ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox available in high definition. That means that those people can watch all network shows on HD, which will also include a lot of sports during football, basketball and baseball seasons.
New Channels are on The Way
Dish Network is the leader in providing high definition television to customers. Since the provider is constantly adding new channels, check back often for local channels as well as other channels that are provided in high definition.
With one of the TurboHD packages, along with local HD channels, you can have a 100% HD viewing experience. Put standard definition in the past where it belongs. Now, HD has taken over, and by signing up with Direct TV, you can become part of the HD revolution.
To sign up for local channels in high definition through Dish Network click here.
