The Biggest Loser Season 6 – Families

August 30, 2008 at 12:58 am by Misti.

My favorite reality TV show — aside from American Idol — is The Biggest Loser. This reality show is very motivating. Each time I watch The Biggest Loser I find myself cheering the contestants on. When they cry tears of joy from a successful weight loss, I cry right along with them. When I see them struggle during their workouts, I almost feel their pain. The show truly keeps me glued to the TV! Does it have the same effect on you?

Over the past 5 seasons of The Biggest Loser we’ve watched individuals, couples and teams compete to win the grand prize of $250,000, and this season the hard work and determination will continue with The Biggest Loser: Families. That’s right, the contestants that we’ll be cheering on for The Biggest Loser Season 6 will be husband and wife teams competing with parent and child teams. If that doesn’t excite you, then keep reading to discover what you can expect from The Biggest Loser: Families. And if it did get your adrenaline pumping, I encourage you to continue reading as well, because what follows will be more adrenaline-pumping news.

We’ve watched contestants throw weigh-ins with the hopes that throwing a weigh-in would increase their chances of getting closer to the grand prize, but this season might surprise you.

“The one thing we practiced and preached before this season was play the game hard, but don’t play the game with the scale. Do the best you can every week on the scale, and let the game come secondary. The contestants this season really took that to heart,” Mark Koops, executive producer of The Biggest Loser, revealed to Reality TV World.

Each season of NBC’s The Biggest Loser had contestants with medical problems they expected to improve with their weight loss… and usually did. With that said, this season we’ll meet a father with life-threatening medical problems — more medical problems than any Biggest Loser contestant has ever had.

As usual, Alison Sweeney from Days of Our Lives will be hosting the show. However, she’s carrying around some extra weight of her own this time around: baby weight. Since Alison’s in her second trimester of pregnancy, she may be absent for portions of The Biggest Loser: Families. Nevertheless, it was expected, and sources say the show has plans for the segments that Alison may not be a part of.

Finally, we can look forward to Julian Michaels and Bob Harper as The Biggest Loser trainers once again. In fact, according to Reality Wanted, Julian and Bob will visit the contestants in their hometowns to surprise them with the news that they’ll be a part of The Biggest Loser Season 6, which is something the show has never done. Furthermore, Bob and Julian will be training the contestants in a new gym. To tour the new gym for The Biggest Loser: Families with Bob and Julian, head to NBC and watch the tour video.

So what do you say, are you ready for The Biggest Loser: Families? Well, hold on to your hats, because the season premiere is just around the corner! The Biggest Loser Season 6 is scheduled to air Tuesday, September 16 at 8:00 pm/ET, and if you can’t wait that long, visit NBC on September 9 to preview the first hour online.
