This is an exciting day for women everywhere. Entertainment Tonight is confirming George Clooney will be making a guest appearance on ER before the series finale on April 2nd. The show has been bringing back past characters all season. Dr. Barnett (Shane West), Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) and Dr. Greene (Anthony Edwards) have made appearances and Dr. Benton (Eriq La Salle) is scheduled to direct an episode and may also appear on screen. The show has been on the air for 15 years and has had solid rating but NBC and the show’s creators feel it has run its course.

There has been a buzz about Clooney’s return for the past few weeks. First, the network extended the show’s last season by three episodes, creating speculation that they were making room for George. Then there were reports that ER was going to be filming on a closed set this week, adding to the mummers around Hollywood. Finally, yesterday, Entertainment Tonight confirmed that George Clooney will be returning for one of the final episodes. There is no word on what his storyline will be nor has there been any confirmation from NBC that he is in fact working on the show this week.

Clooney first appeared on ER as Dr. Doug Ross back in 1996. He left the show in 2000 and has only returned for one brief scene for which he wasn’t credited. Of course, he has gone on to movie superstardom, appearing in hits like Ocean 11 and receiving an Oscar for his work in Syriana. He has also supported many charitable causes and is a leader in the fight to end the genocide in Darfur.
