EW is reporting “Life on Mars” has been canceled by ABC. According to Michael Ausiello, “the network recently advised the show’s producers that it would not be ordering a second season. The heads-up will allow them to make this year’s season finale a series finale, thus leaving no questions unanswered.”

Hopefully, the network will actually play the finale unlike “Pushing Daisies”, “Dirty Sexy Money” and “Eli Stone”, whose finales never aired. The network has always given “Life on Mars” quite a bit of support, first airing it on Thursdays behind “Grey’s Anatomy” and then on Wednesdays behind “Lost”.

Even with the network behind it, “Life on Mars”, couldn’t seem to find an audience. The show, based on the British series of the same name, stars Jason O’Mara as 2008 Detective Sam Tyler working in New York in 1973.
