Have you ever had the opportunity to check out Toddlers and Tiaras?
If not, I cannot exactly say that I recommend it.
First of all, I’m not a huge fan of the pageant world among toddlers. Of course, there are some fun pageants with some very reasonable rules and there are some reasonable prizes even.
But then, there are the pageants that seem to be featured on Toddlers and Tiaras. They are full hair, full makeup, tanned three year old girls with fake teeth and extensions.
Make your tummy churn? Yeah, that’s kind of my reaction as well.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure there are some three year olds who just lap this stuff up and absolutely love it. But to have fun! Not to rehearse for five hours a day and get drilled into their head. It seems like many times, it’s the moms who are more interested in entering their children into the pageant. Maybe their long lost dream?
TLC is taking this concept of toddler pageants and premiering their second season on the topic.
“On any given weekend, on stages across the country, little girls and boys parade around wearing makeup, false eyelashes, spray tans and fake hair to be judged on their beauty, personality and costumes. Toddlers and Tiaras follows families on their quest for sparkly crowns, big titles, and lots of cash.”
If you’ve never had a chance to check out the show, watch this clip and weigh in on the topic.
