Ugly Betty is a strong show for ABC, entering its fourth season.  The series revolves around Betty Suarez, a funny-looking, brace-faced but good-natured girl, and her job at a New York fashion magazine.  The series is an adaptation of a Colombian television show.  While the show is produced by Selma Hayek, Betty is played by America Ferrera.  For those new to the show, Betty happened upon her job at Mode magazine as an assistant to Daniel because her low qualifications and brutal fashion sense.  The show brings a fresh perspective to television, showing that you don’t always have to conform and be beautiful to be in the entertainment business.  The third season finale left off with Penny dying in a supposed “accident” and also Betty inheriting an editor’s position at Mode.
