“Gossip Girl” fans shouted a collective “NOOO!” when it was announced this week that the show would go on a six week hiatus beginning January 18th to make room for a new show-about adults. But, don’t worry GG fans, you’re going to love the replacement series and so will your older siblings, your parents and maybe even your boyfriends!

“Life UneXpected” isn’t as slick or stylish as The CW’s usual fare, but it does have heart, an element lacking on the young network. The new series revolves around a teen named Lux (Britt Robertson) who tracks down her biological parents, Cate (Shiri Appleby), a successful talk radio personality and Baze (Kristoffer Polaha), a bar owner (who still lives in an apartment above it), who haven’t seen each other since high school. The three of them find themselves thrown into a situation where they have to become a makeshift family and do so fast. It looks like it has a lot of potential and hopefully it will last longer than The CW’s last debut series, “The Beautiful Life” which has already been canceled. Oh, and as a bonus for me and my fellow “Dawson’s Creek” fans, Kerr Smith also stars in the show!

“Life UneXpected” premieres on Monday, January 18, at 9 p.m. (“Gossip Girl’s” slot) but will move into “One Tree Hill’s” time slot at 8 p.m. later in the season. The three shows will time-share Monday nights so there are less repeats.
