The summer TV season usually leaves much to be desired but there are a few highlights this year, including the final episodes of ABC’s canceled shows.
First of all, kudos to ABC for airing the final episodes of Pushing Daisies, Samantha Who?, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money this summer which will give fans some closer. NBC will also air the final episodes of Kings this summer even though the show has been canceled.
Besides catching up on shows that are no more, the usual summer staples will be returning like Big Brother, Burn Notice, Kathy Griffin: MY Life on the D List, America’s Got Talent, Weeds, Entourage, Hell’s Kitchen, Psych and sadly, the final season of Monk.
Though it doesn’t look there are many new shows that will have the potential to become the guilty pleasure that was Swingtown last summer, we will have USA’s Royal Pains, NBC’s The Philanthropist, and HBO’s Hung to look forward to. They all have the potential of being must see TV, especially Hung about a gym teacher (Thomas Jane) who decides to use his below-the-waist gift to make a living as a male prostitute.
Also, for DIRECTV subscribers, the 101 is reairing three series this summer, The Nine (including the final episodes that never aired on ABC), Oz and Deadwood.
