If there’s one thing I get tired of, it’s the inability of show fans to realize that it’s really..really..really hard to replicate the amount of awe and interest you get when you first watch a TV show that you love. When viewers first embraced Lost it was the greatest thing since sliced bread, but as the seasons wore on and the storyline became more complex, many firmly decided that it had jumped the shark and couldn’t go back to the “glory days.” Already faced with waning ratings and a few questionable character additions, some talk has arisen for Heroes as well, saying that the old was great and the new was blah. The more things change the more they stay the same, eh?
Anyway, I was sad that Pushing Daisies got the axe, but some good has arisen from the ashes like the proverbial Phoenix of TV entertainment. Bryan Fuller has returned to Heroes as a writer, aiming to revitalize interest in the show. In addition to said revitalization, there will also be a guest appearance by Swoosie Kurtz, who plays Lily Charles in an episode written by..you guessed it, Bryan Fuller himself.
Apparently Fuller wrote the part specifically for Swoosie (awesome name by the way), and said that the role will be “really fun.” I hope that fun doesn’t entail getting your brain eaten (I know, he doesn’t technically eat it..whatever) by Sylar, since it seems like you can pick out just about any new character in Heroes that’s destined for summary execution. I mean come on, the lie detector guy? Who didn’t see that one coming?
