Mick Garris, the writer and director of The Shining, The Stand and Desperation is working on another adaptation of one of Stephen King’s novels.
Garris has been developing Bag of Bones, based on the 1998 book of the same name, for some time with screenwriter Matt Venne, and is now planning on turning it into a television mini-series, instead of bringing it to the big screen.
“We’re finalizing our deal,” says Garris, “and will hopefully be shooting late-spring, early-summer.”
Which network is picking up Bag of Bones will be announced shortly, along with cast information and a tentative air date. Venne, who worked for Garris on Masters of Horror and wrote Dario Argento’s Pelts, is in the process of adapting the feature script into a mini-series format.
The story is about Mike Noonan, a novelist grieving over the death of his wife. He settles into their summer home and becomes embroiled in some nasty drama with a local millionaire.
