Hey, he’s done it before… getting celebrities to attempt to kick their habits on “VH1’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew”. So it’s no surprise that he’s back to do it again.

This time, the patients aren’t tackling drug addiction. Rather, they are facing a less common, less popular addiction: sex addiction. I bet that alone will get some viewers to tune in.

The eight patients include a surfing champion, a Playboy Playmate, two former porn stars and a name “Celebrity Rehab” watchers will recognize… one-time supermodel Amber Smith.

Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew is a continuance of Celebrity Rehab, in which celebrities with substance addictions are forced to deal with their illness. Unlike its predecessor, this show will deal with a specific addiction, namely sexual addiction. The participants will live in a facility for 21 days with Dr. Drew Pinsky and therapist Jill Vermeire providing daily one-on-one and group therapy sessions in order to get to the root of their compulsive behavior.

I don’t know how much of an actual impact that anyone can expect the show to make on the “taboo” subject of sex addiction, but if we all know VH1 (and by now, we sure do)… I think it’s less about making a taboo subject acceptable and more about drama and ratings.

Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew premieres Sunday, November 1 on VH1.
