Rosie O’Donnell will debut a new documentary “A Family Is A Family Is A Family: A Rosie O’Donnell Celebration,” on HBO January 31 and for the first time viewers will get an intimate look inside her family.
Even though Rosie recently broke up with her partner of 11 years, Kelli Carpenter, she is determined to keep her family together and recently revealed why their split didn’t fracture their family, but rather, made them stronger.
“Listen, we’re a family,” Rosie said.
“It’s different with gay women,” she continued. “I’d like to tell you it’s as dramatic as a hetero-sexual break-up, not that it’s not as painful or that it doesn’t require as much emotional work, but you know, the gay women that I know have the women they used to be [with] still in their lives in some capacity. Kelli and I will always be a family and we love each other very much and we want the best for each other and it’s all OK. I know that’s hard for a lot of people to believe, but there it is.”
In “A Family Is A Family Is A Family” Rosie will not only talk to her own children – Parker, 14, Chelsea, 12, Blake, 12, and Vivienne 7- about their family but will also take a look at other families and showcase the diversities of today’s modern families.
