Remember when TGIF stood for more than just the weekend? Growing up, TGIF meant kick booty, quality television for the entire family.

Unfortunately, those classics are long gone and I’m usually bored to tears with my television selections on Friday night. Which, whatever– yes, I’m at home on Friday nights while people are busy having lives and all that jazz. Semantics, people. Semantics.

So what is on Friday nights anyway?

• NBC has a new episode of The Chopping Block, then a new, two-hourDateline.
• FOX has a new Don’t Forget The Lyrics at 8.
• PBS has new episodes of Washington Week, NOW, and Bill Moyers Journal.
• MyNetwork TV has a new Smackdown! at 8.
• ESPN has coverage of The U.S. Open at 8.
• BBC America has a new Friday Night with Jonathan Ross at 8.
• Also at 8: Cartoon Network has a new Secret Saturdays, then a new Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
• At 9, Animal Planet has a new Whale Wars.
• USA repeats the two-part NCIS that serves as the intro to theNCIS: LA cast.
• At 10, ABC has a new 20/20.
• HBO has a new Real Time with Bill Maher at 10.
• E! has a new episode of The Soup at 10.”

Okay, so while it’s not TGIF and quality shows like Family Matters, Full House, and Step by Step… well, I might be able to find something entertaining on tonight. I’ll probably be tuning in to catch “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” in which I will both impress and disgust my husband by my useless lyrical knowledge, and I’ll even get some laughs in with Joe Hale and The Soup. Good times on a Friday night! I  might even pop some popcorn. While it might not be ideal to some of you, I’m looking forward to it!
