It looks like Oprah’s home makeover guru, Nate Berkus, is getting his own show. “The Nate Berkus Show” will be produced by Oprah’s Harpo Productions and will hit the airwaves this fall (after a deal that Harpo spent all night negotiating with NBC Universal and Sony Television).
Berkus was first discovered after doing interior design work for Wolfgang Puck’s Spago, Barneys New York, the W Hotels and Billy Joel. In recent years, he has been featured on the “Oprah” show doing room makeovers for viewers.
Besides appearances on Winfrey’s show, he also hosted “Oprah’s Big Give” on ABC in 2008, published a book entitled “Home Rules: Transform the Place You Live into a Place You’ll Love”, and had his line of household goods at Linens ‘n Things stores throughout the country in 2005.
The designer is the just the latest in a line of talent that Oprah has featured on her show and then helpedto launch their own talk show. Others have included Dr. Phil McGraw, Rachael Ray and Dr. Oz.
“The Nate Berkus Show” is slated to debut in the fall on at least NBC’s 10 owned stations.
