keatonKeaton signs with HBO for new series.

Diane Keaton will star in and executive produce her first TV series for HBO. The comedy will feature Keaton as an “old-guard feminist leader” who tries to give new spark to the cause by starting a sexually frank women’s magazine. The script is being written by “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Private Practice” veteran Marti Noxon.

Noxon told The Hollywood Reporter that she’s been kicking around the idea for a show that speaks to feminist issues for some time. She and fellow exec producer Dawn Parouse Olmstead first hit on the idea of a young woman working for a porn magazine, then decided to make the lead character older. “We’ve come a long way since the Kinsey report,” she says. “Women are more sexual now.” The project will be Keaton’s first regular TV role and her first series work of any kind since early in her career.

CBS will replace “Guiding Light” with “Let’s Make a Deal”.

The network announced today that the new “Let’s Make a Deal” will be hosted by Wayne Brady and is set to premiere Monday, Oct. 5. Monty Hall, who hosted the original version from 1963-77, will serve as a creative consultant on the new show. “We are delighted to have ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ back on the air with CBS,” Hall says. “I know the audience is going to welcome the charming and engaging Wayne Brady as the new host.” “Let’s Make a Deal” has had several revivals since Hall’s original show left the air in 1977. Most recently on NBC in 2003 with Billy Bush as host.
