Earlier today I received an email from Netflix explaining that the subscription price will be going up by $1 a month for people like myself who have selected to receive Blu-ray movies. Blu-ray movies are currently a lot more expensive to buy than DVD’s so from a business point of view this really wasn’t a surprise to me. In my opinion the service is already dirt cheap and well worth the extra dollar each month for the access to Blu-ray movies.

Ever since opting into receiving Blu-ray movies from Netflix I have been very happy with the service and have found it to be a great bargain. I don’t buy Blu-ray movies because they are still way to pricey, this is a great way to utilize your Blu-ray player and not drop a ton of money. Not only have I saved money by renting but I have cut back on my satellite bill as well by replacing a lot of the premium channels I had with movies that I rent from Netflix. I really doubt that this price hike will have a negative effect on subscribers, I don’t think anyone is going to cancel their account over an extra $1.
