With the void left by the cancellation, or as NBC would like to spin it, Jay Leno’s triumphant return to late night, the network has wasted no time in filling the newly-created time slot.  NBC has pilots coming up, including seven dramas, two comedies, as well as two remakes.

Fanboy favorite J.J. Abrams will direct the pilot episode of Undercovers, which has been generating online buzz since NBC attached itself to the project. Abrams, Bryan Burk and Josh Reims will exec produce the series about a husband-wife CIA team. Warner Bros. Television and Bad Robot Prods. will produce.

Another entry is the long-running (it tied series leader Bonanza) Law & Order franchise, with Law & Order: Los Angeles. The new series will be produced by franchise creator Dick Wolf.

David E. Kelley (L.A. Law) makes his return to NBC with Kindreds, a drama centering on an ex-patent lawyer who forms a new law firm with some associates.

The action drama, Chase, from Jerry Bruckheimer, will follow a group of US marshals who patrol the Southwest part of the United States while sci-fi lovers may see a new drama from producer Steve Stark called The Event. The show will center on a man who discovers mysterious circumstances that are a part of a larger mystery. A mystery that has nothing to do with all the network sci-fi shows using the same theme.

Two remakes will also head towards NBC including police staple The Rockford Files. The show will be produced by House creator David Shore and The Office’s Steve Carrell. Also debuting is the Americanized version of BBC’s Helen Mirren sensation, Prime Suspect.

One of the comedies NBC will pilot is an hour long dramedy entitled Love Bites; a romantic comedy from the writers of Love Actually and Sex and the City (Eric Fellner, Shelley McCrory, Timothy Bevan, and Cindy Chupack).

Adam Carolla, a longtime radio personality and who also appeared on television in Comedy Central’s The Man Show and ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, is set to star in a laugher about a divorced husband who looks to rebuild his life as a contractor.
