natNatasha Richardson has died at the age of 45 after an accident at a Montreal Ski Resort. It was first reported yesterday that Richardson was in critical condition at a Montreal hospital after being injured in a skiing accident on Monday. Apparently, Richardson walked away from her fall on the beginner’s slope and was taken to the hospital an hour later when she complained of an headache. Yesterday, she was flown to Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan where her family held vigil for her until she was taken off of life support this afternoon. The details of her injuries are unclear but it has been confirmed she was declared brain dead upon arrival to Lenox Hospital. Her family is obviously shocked by Richardson’s sudden death.

“Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha,” Neeson rep Alan Nierob said in a statement. “They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”

Richardson won a Tony for her work in Caberet and has appeared in dozens of movies including 1998’s The Parent Trap. In 1993, she appeared in a performance of the PBS restaging of Tennesee Williams’ Suddenly Last Summer and the TNT movie Zelda, co-starring Timothy Hutton. In 2001, she played Ruth Gruber in the CBS min-series Haven. Her most recent TV appearance was as a guest judge on Top Chef’s Christmas episode last December.

Richardson leaves behind her husband, actor Liam Neeson, her mother, actress Vanessa Redgrave, and two young sons, Michael and Daniel Neeson.
