I don’t really understand why..but Melrose Place will be returning as a new show. I always thought it was one of those 90210 knockoffs that was destined for the trash bin..but it’s been brought back from the dead..and with a slightly recognizable writer at the helm, too. The “One Tree Hill” creator Mark Schwahn may be taking over the place, but I’m not so sure that it will be any better than the first time.

It seems to bear a resemblance to CW and CBS’s move to have “Veronica Mars” creator Rob Thomas pen the original script for 90210. After he was finished, however, he handed it over to Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah. Chances are this will be a similar deal.

Now, as to who will return to the series from it’s original incarnation is still up in there, as is the question as to whether the series may be any good. Of course take that with a grain of salt, as I’m sure I’m on the opposite end of the target demographic for the show. This also seems to pigeon hole CW a bit. So far all they seem to be doing is resurrecting older formerly popular shows or turning former movies into shows. Why not some more original content, guys? Write your own stuff!
