As I stated in a previous post, Mad Men is one of those shows that happens to be brilliant, interesting, suspenseful, and…well just not that popular. It’s been touted with a variety of awards and other acclimations, but the show’s still pretty niche in terms of audience. Regardless, many fans were wondering whether Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner (haha) would be sticking around to continue creating more episodes.

Well, as it turns out, he will, and a new deal has been reached with Lionsgate TV, which produces the Emmy winner, and the show will still have him around as executive producer and show-running guy for 2 more years. The agreement itself has been under negotiations for a couple of months now, and Matthew was in a much stronger position considering that the show’s following just about doubled from the first season to the second.

As you might expect, this won’t be a small contract, and heads into the seven figure range, and Mr. Weiner will also be expected to create an additional series for Lionsgate TV as well as work on film projects for the studio’s movie division. All good if you ask me, given the caliber of the show.
