Even though NBC has been reluctant to make an official announcement, it looks like Lipstick Jungle is in deed canceled. It is safe to say that any fans holding out hope that the show would return in the fall can let go now that the show’s stars are being cast in new fall pilots. Some speculate the show’s demise has less to do with ratings and more to do with Jay Leno who will be taking over the 10 p.m. slot on NBC Monday-Friday.
Andrew McCarthy, one of LJ’s only male leads, has been cast in the new Gossip Girl spin-off. This is an interesting casting choice since the show is set in the 1980s and, of course, McCarthy was a big star in the ’80s, appearing in films like St. Elmo’s Fire and Pretty in Pink.
Two of Lipstick Jungle’s other stars, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price, have also recently been cast in two new ABC pilots. Raver will star in Inside the Box, a new drama from Grey Anatomy’s Shondra Rhimes about ” a knockout blonde reporter who once was considered the next Diane Sawyer,” according to the Hollywood Reporter. While Price has been cast in the pilot for The Witches of Eastwick a new series based on the 1987 movie of the same name.
