TLC’s popular reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8 will finally end its run on Monday at 9 p.m. EST.
During this final hour, the now divorced Jon and Kate Gosselin, the estranged parents of young twins and sextuplets, will venture on separate outings with the kids. Jon will take them to a fire station near the family home in Wernersville, Pa. Kate will take the kids to a local dairy farm. Individually, each newly single parent will reflect on what the past has meant and what the future might hold.
Jon Gosselin filed a lawsuit against TLC last month, claiming the show’s producers violated Pennsylvania’s child labor laws when they filmed the kids. It was filed in response to a network lawsuit alleging Gosselin failed to meet his obligations to TLC. The network has said it retains an exclusive talent arrangement with him, as well as the rest of the family.
Here’s what TLC says about the finale:
As Jon and Kate mentally prepare for the unpredictable future of the show, they each sit down to provide new insights on their recent life events and what the series has meant through the ups and downs of the last several years. How will they each respond to the uncertainty of the future? In the series finale, Jon and Kate continue to make the transition into single parenthood, they each seek to make the most out of their time with the eight kids. When Kate takes the kids to a local dairy farm, they learn the art of milking a cow, what it takes to feed a calf, and drink fresh milk! Then Jon and the kids learn all about firefighting when they visit a local fire station and help raise money for these local heroes.”
In September, a revamped series was announced. Jon & Kate Plus 8 was meant to segue smoothly into Kate Plus Eight this month, concentrating on the kids and their mom. “‘Kate Plus Eight’ is not in production,” TLC spokeswoman Laurie Goldberg said Thursday. “We are focusing on the launch of Kate’s new series in early spring.”
