First of all, before I get into this, I have to say GO PHILLIES! Totally unrelated to basketball, but I’m a huge fan and glad to see them finally win again (maybe the 76ers are up next…but my guess is probably not). In any case, it’s likely that at some point you’re going to watch other sports online besides baseball, such as say…basketball. There are a number of resources available for you to do just that, but they’re not all free. I’ve compiled a short list of resources you can use to get your basketball fix online.

As always, official sources are usually the best and most reliable option you have, and NBA.com does offer a live streaming package. Thankfully, there’s a number of games you can watch live fore free, and you canĀ  just follow the live streaming link for a full schedule of games that will be broadcast on there. I’m not an obsessive basketball fan, but I do like to catch the 76ers play occasionally, and this is where I go to do just that. The site can’t be beat in terms of reliability and speed, but it won’t always have every game available for you to watch, so if the game you’re looking for isn’t on here, you’re gonna need to find a viable alternative. Thankfully that isn’t too monumental a task, as there’s a few spots out there for you to catch your favorite local team.

MyP2P provides another (free) peer to peer solution that you may be able to take advantage of, and you can check out their basketball section here. Interestingly they don’t just have NBA games but also a number of international games that are going on as well if you’re feeling a bit exotic. As the site is all based on peer 2 peer it’s not quite as extensive or reliable as say the NBA website, but if the game you want isn’t on there, then you’ll have to find an alternate site, so it’s certainly worth a shot.

Finally, you can always head over to DirecTV’s website and review their sports packages that they have available. Many times you’ll be able to use their Supercast software and stream the game directly to your PC. If your particular sport isn’t available there, then alternatively you can actually schedule your DVR to record the game from any PC with an internet connection so you can watch it later. Definitely a handy tool, and I’ve been debating making the switch myself.
