Today, MTV announced that George will host of a bi-coastal telethon next week on their networks to raise money and support for the relief effort in Haiti.

The telethon, which will be simulcast from L.A. and NYC Friday night, is expected to have an A-list roster of musicians, actors and entertainers thanks to Clooney, who is personally reaching out to his Hollywood cohorts about the event.

Many celebrities have already stepped up to help out. Many celebs, including Alyssa Milano, Adam Lambert, and Lindsay Lohan have urged their followers to donate to various charities helping out in Haiti.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who’ve helped the people of Haiti in the past, issued a statement Tuesday night saying, “We are devastated by the news from Haiti. We will work closely with our good friend Wyclef Jean to support the humanitarian efforts on the island and help those who have been injured and left without homes and shelter.” The couple also put their money where their mouth is by donating $1 million to Doctors without Borders.
