joleneFormer Star Trek gal Jolene Blalock will be joining the cast of  Legend of the Seeker for the series’ upcoming second season.

Legend of the Seeker is a syndicated fantasy series based on The Sword of Truth novels from author Terry Goodkind. It follows the journey of  a young guide named Richard (Craig Horner), mysterious woman named Kahlan (Bridget Regan), a wizard named Zeddicus Zu’l Zorander (Bruce Spence) who must stop the evil Darken rahl (Craig Parker) from unleashing an ancient power.

Horror maestro and Spider-Man director Sam Raimi became interested in adapting Goodkind’s novels to screen after his partner and producer Joshua Donen asked him to read the books. At first Raimi wanted to adapt the first book into a movie or a five-part miniseries, but after speaking with Goodkind, settled on making a weekly television series for ABC Studios.

Blalock is best known for her portrayal of the sexy Vulcan T’Pol on the syndicated series Star Trek: Enterprise. The series was canceled after its third season due to lackluster ratings; a first for the franchise. Enterprise faced scrutiny by fans due to its “sexing up” of the story which frequently included Blalock taking showers. This tactic was originally used to limited success on Star Trek: Voyager with Jeri Ryan’s robotic hotness with Seven of Nine.

Season three of The Legend of the Seeker is currently in production with the 34-year-old actress playing a “mysterious Sister of the Dark who has a very powerful magic and whose ultimate goal is to destroy Kahlan.” Blalock is in New Zealand shooting her scenes in New Zealand. Her character will be reoccurring throughout the season.

Since Enterprise was canceled in 2005, she has appeared in a made-for-TV movie entitled I Dream of Murder on Lifetime and a guest appearance on CBS’ CSI: Miami. She has also appeared in the direct-to-DVD movie Starship Troopers 3: Marauder where she played Captain Lola Beck (Jolene Blalock), a member of the United Citizen Federation who is marooned on an alien planet.

Series executive producers Ken Biller and Ned Nalle revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that Legend of the Seeker will return with 22 new episodes on Saturday, November 7th.

Who exactly is Blalock playing? Nicci, or Greta? I think casting search is still going on for Nicci, so she must be one of the other SoD. These gals are bad news(if you read the books, you know)so Jolene has a challenging job ahead! Good luck to her. I enjoy LOTS very much!
