The Today Show is adding another correspondent to its already full roster this fall. NBC announced this morning that former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager is joining the show, at least part-time.
“It wasn’t something I’d always dreamed to do. But I think one of the most important things in life is to be open-minded and to be open-minded for change,” said Hager, 27, who was approached by Today Show executive producer Jim Bell. Bell thought she had a natural ability based on previous Today Show visits. “I think she can handle it. She knows something about pressure and being under some scrutiny. When she came here for a handful of appearances [to promote her books], she knocked it out of the park.”
Jenna will contribute to the show once a month covering human interest stories and the occasional feature beginning September 14. Hager will continue working as a teacher in Baltimore. In addition to teaching, Hagar is also the Young Leadership Ambassador for UNICEF and has written two best-selling books: “Ana’s Story,” based on her work with UNICEF, and the children’s book “Read All About It!” which she co-authored with her mother, Laura.
