Former WWE Champion, Bret “The Hitman” Hart who made his controversial departure from the company in 1997 is making his television return to the WWE in a guest hosting stint on the professional wrestling company’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW on January 4, 2010. Hart’s shocking return coincides with WWE’s rival professional wrestling company, TNA moving it’s Impact program into a slot directly opposite Monday Night RAW, beginning on January 4th, as well. To sweeten the deal and entice wrestling fans away from WWE’s show, TNA promises some big names to appear, including Scott Hall of the nWo and arguably, one of wrestling’s most legendary figures, Hulk Hogan.
The balance between real life and make-believe has always seemed precarious in the headquarters of World Wrestling Entertainment. From a Senate run to wrestler deaths, the WWE manages to stay in the news. This time it’s for something that has to do with the back-end business rather than breaking tables on some poor sap’s back.
In a press release from World Wrestling Entertainment, effective January 1st, vice-president of global media Shane MchMahon, in a surprise move, has tendered his resignation from the organization. “It has been an incredible experience to help build WWE into a global phenomenon,” Shane McMahon said. “However, having been associated with this organization for the majority of my life, I feel this is the opportune time in my career to pursue outside ventures.”
