Saturday Night LiveI’ve always been a big fan of SNL, even through all the crappy years and not so funny skits, I occasionally make time to sit down on a slow Saturday night and see if there are some laughs left, and usually there are. With that said, it is always tough to make the transition over from comedy into a serious role. Some have managed to do so, like Adam Sandler, who sticks mostly to comedy but has …

Daytime EmmysIt was beginning to look like the annual Daytime Emmy Awards would not be broadcast on television this year. Since 2004, ABC and CBS had alternated the broadcasting duties, after NBC dropped out. CBS was scheduled to air the awards this year but bowed out last fall.

When ABC was asked to pick up the slack, they also declined. They explained that because they were not scheduled to air the 2009 awards, they hadn’t made contingency plans for it. …

christinaChristina Applegate has come an awful long way from the hazy dimwit she played on Married With Children. She’s not a widely recognized actress, and has starred in a number of films (my personal favorite is still Anchorman, quiet you haters!). Most recently she’s gotten back into the small screen with her solid comedy Samantha Who, and she recently had a chat with TV.com as to her past and what she looks forward to in the future.

So what can we expect …

parksrecreationIs NBC’s new comedy Parks and Recreation in trouble even before it debuts? The raw pilot for the Amy Poehler vehicle by the producers behind The Office was recently screened for test audiences, where it received largely negative reviews. The results of the focus group leaked on the internet over the weekend.

Parks and Recreation is scheduled to premiere on April 9. If any changes are going to be made to the pilot based on the focus group’s responses, the …

daveIt seems there’s no shortage of important news these days when it comes to talk show hosts (although I think “important” is up for debate). From Conan going to a new spot to his replacement Jimmy taking up the later one with a slightly choppy debut, there’s been plenty to talk about. With that said, we have an entirely unrelated piece of news, David Letterman recently married his long time girlfriend.

When I say long time I mean a really long time! …

survivorThe next time you’re at a theme park, you may be able to “Outwit. Outplay. Outlast.” like the contestants on Survivor without having to give up air-conditioning, eat grubs, and be devoured by mosquitos. CBS Consumer Products, in partnership with RWS and Associates, will be bringing Survivor: Live to three American theme parks this summer and perhaps more if the venture is a success.

Survivor: Live, which will be a 30 minute interactive show, will feature video clips from the series as …

menIt’s pretty unusual when a show manages to pull in a multi year deal with it’s network. I mean there’s a lot of risk involved in renewing a show for a long period of time considering how fickle most fans are. On the other hand the series is the most watched comedy on TV, so it’s not all that surprising to hear that it will remain on CBS from now until the end of 2012, officially.

CBS announced that it inked the …

gordon-ramsayIf you thought you were going to get the chance to miss Gordon Ramsay once this season of Hell’s Kitchen finished, you thought wrong. FOX has ordered a new season of Kitchen Nightmares, where Ramsay travels to struggling restaurants and tries to whip the staff into shape and make the restaurant profitable. Kitchen Nightmares will return in the fall.

Speaking of Hell’s Kitchen, FOX taped two seasons back-to-back, which means we’ll be seeing Ramsay berate and mentor aspiring chefs through the summer. …

law01Law and Order is one of the few shows I’ve seen that isn’t constantly trying to keep things fresh and interesting or reinvent itself all the time, and I don’t mean that as an insult. The creators of Law and order found a formula that worked and they’ve stuck with it for (now) 19 seasons, and this most recent one did not disappoint.

The season premiere was still my personal favorite, in which a stockbroker is beaten to death in broad daylight …

smallvilleThere’s usually one of two outcomes when an actor/actress goes from a role that they usually aim for and something completely and utterly different. Most of the time this is a transition of genre, such as Jim Carrey going from playing a raving maniac who speaks out of his ass to a rather serious schlub who grows up in a fake TV show for the whole world to see. Depending on who you ask, that transition worked fairly well (and he’s …
