This was the mid-season finale of Heroes, as NBC gears up for the Olympics so, here’s a look at what happened:

Tracy rescued Claire and HRG from the sunken trailer before disappearing again. Then the two of them were taken to NYC with Lauren and Samuel was there with his carnival. Sylar and Peter were also there.

In the meantime, Hiro met with Charlie in the hospital. Samuel had sent her back in time so she was really old. She also had a family so Hiro said his goodbyes and headed to NYC with the others.

At the carnival, Hiro teleported everyone away from Samuel, and as a result he got very weak. He had no ability left and no family (because they told everyone the truth, that Samuel killed Lydia).

In the end, Samuel was in custody and Claire was defying her father again (this was also the beginning of volume six). She climbed to the top of the ferris wheel and was fine. Then, a group of reporters on the ground all gasped.

There were two main storylines this week, one involving Sylar and Parkman, the other revolving around HRG and Samuel.

Sylar contacted Parkman and threatened to kill Janice if he didn’t go into his head and get rid of all his abilities. He buried Sylar’s abilities and then trapped him into a lonely existence.

Peter showed up and took Parkman’s abilities to read his mind. He found Sylar and tried to rescue him because his dream showed Sylar saving lives, not hurting people, but he ended up in the same nightmare as Sylar.

In the meantime, HRG is trying to take Samuel down.  Claire went to warn everyone at the carnival and she convinced Samuel to turn himself in. But, Samuel wasn’t actually convinced at all, he had another plan. He had Eli shoot at everyone in the carnival to make them think it was HRG.

He even had Eli shoot and kill Lydia to make it believable. Lauren was also wounded but called Tracy for help. When Eli returned with HRG, he told everyone  HRG had been the shooter.  They wanted to kill him (literally) but Samuel had them tie HRG up in the house of mirrors and put Claire in his trailer.

As the episode ended, Samuel was telling them all that society would never accept them and that they should really show the world what they are capable of.

Heroes has been taking a lot of heat from fans recently for being, well, lame. And its doubtful this week’s episode changed their minds.

One of the season’s ongoing storylines, Hiro’s brain tumor, was wrapped up when he fainted, dreamed about a court case where he defended his recent time-traveling decisions, fought Adam Monroe with a sword and then his dead mother touched his head which killed his brain tumor.

Meanwhile, Sylar goes to Claire’s college so he could get closer to her because he thought they had a lot in common and wanted to know more about her life so he could better understand his own (or so he says). But to get Claire to open up, he shape shifted into Gretchen.

As the episode ended Sylar arrived at Parkman’s door and asked his wife where Matt was well Claire told Gretchen she wanted to express herself better.

Finally, Samuel took Vanessa to see the dream cottage he built for her, but she said she had to go back to her real life. This prompted a heartbroken Sam used his abilities to destroy an entire town.

In Monday’s episode, Hiro and Ando rescued Mohinder from the mental hospital. While there, Ando used his powers to short-circuit Hiro back to normal and then the three of them transported themselves into Noah’s living room.

Samuel tracked down his long-lost love, Vanessa. He took her back to the carnival, against her will, promising to show her something “beautiful”.

Parkman tried to help HRG find Vanessa and, eventually, Samuel. This plan went all wrong though and Parkman was left back at home, cooking dinner for family and feeling useless. He felt like his fear was letting everyone down.

Peter took his mother’s dreaming power so he could see into the future and understand why she was so afraid of Emma. In his vision, he saw Emma killing thousands of people, with  her cello. Because of this vision, he went to Emma’s and destroyed her cello, which did not please her one bit.

As for Claire, she acts very strangely when HRG comes to visit her at school.  Sylar may have been in room, that’s one explanation for her behavior, since no explanation is really given.

Heroes star Jimmy Jean-Louis is trying to contact his parents after the earthquake that struck Haiti Monday. Unfortunately, the actor has already learned that several of his relatives have died in the natural disaster. Yesterday he said, “I have not slept yet. The second house that I grew up in was down, and some relatives have died, from what I have been told. I haven’t been able to reach my parents. I have heard that they are OK, but I do not know what is going on around them.”

To help with the relief efforts, he has made a video for his organization ‘Hollywood Unites for Haiti’, which he created several years ago and is going to start doing what he can to help rebuild his native land.

“I am going to try to get in, but I am going to try to understand the situation first to see how I can best help. The plan is to at some point visit, and right now, I am trying to be as productive as I can be here. People should understand that sending donations of items and goods will be difficult right now because we will be bombarded and have no way to distribute them. I don’t think people have any idea how terrible this is because of the circumstances on the ground in Haiti and the lack of the infrastructure. There are no roads, and it is going to be extremely difficult for help to reach people.”

Last night’s much-hyped two hour episode of Heroes wasn’t exactly action packed but it did open up some interesting possibilities for what’s to come.

First off, the dramatic high point (or low point, depending on how you look at it) was Claire fighting with HRG again because she found out about fake Nathan and that Sylar killed her dad a long time ago.

HRG tries to learn more about the carnival by capturing Edgar and getting some information out of him. Edgar tells HRG that  Samuel killed Joseph. But just as it looks like Edgar is on HRG’s side, he steals HRG’s map of the carnival and vanishes so HRG can’t try to break it up.

Claire also realizes the carnival is a strange place. She sneaks into Samuel’s trailer and sees a bunch of information about her friends. She asks him about it but doesn’t get an answer, instead he takes her to a field where a guy named Ian turns dirt into grass. Samuel tells her this is where their new lives will be.

Sylar is also at the  carnival and tries to kill Samuel but his power doesn’t work. Samuel tells him to stay at the carnival but Sylar doesn’t think that is his destiny. He has Samuel tattoo him and he injects ink into Sylar’s body, it forms a picture of Claire.

As for Peter, he is understandably distraught and leaves Nathan’s funeral to go straight to a crime scene. At the scene, Peter tries to talk down a man with a gun but is shot. Somehow Claire knew he was there and he absorbs her healing powers until he is OK again.

Well, Heroes fans, you’ll have a few weeks to regroup after Nathan’s death last week. There won’t be a new episode of the show until the end of January. Here’s a look at what happened last week, in case you missed it.

Peter took the Haitian’s ability, confronted Sylar and erased his powers while almost beating him to death which was pretty gruesome. As a result, Nathan emerged again. The brothers talked and Nathan admitted the attempts to fight off Sylar were killing him. Peter took Nathan to the rooftop from season one and he jumped off the ledge. Peter tried to grab him but Nathan pleaded with him one last time to remain a force for good and then let go, dropping to his death. Below, his body bounced off a car, then got up and walked away but now it was only Sylar.

Meanwhile a carnie named Eli broke into HRG’s house and stole his box of Primatech files. Claire and Gretchen  made it to the carnival where Samuel showed them around and introduced them to everyone. Gretchen left to go back to school but Claire stayed and listened to Samuel talk about recruiting more heroes in order to assert their dominance and no longer live in fear.

Sendhil Ramamurthy has joined NBC’s comedic drama pilot Rex Is Not Your Lawyer as a regular.

Ramamurthy, who currently plays on Heroes, will reportedly play an ambitious lawyer who falls in love with Rex’s fiancée, played by Abigail Spencer. His casting is said to be in second position to Heroes.

Jane Curtin also has been cast in the pilot, which stars David Tennant as Rex Alexander, a top Chicago litigator who begins suffering panic attacks and starts coaching clients to represent themselves in court.  Ramamurthy will play an ambitious but good-natured lawyer who was in Rex’s shadow until Rex’s career switch and whose friendship with Rex becomes complicated when he falls in love with his friend’s fiancée (Abigail Spencer).

Ramamurthy’s character on Heroes, Mohinder Suresh, played a vital part in the series’ first couple of seasons. Recently, his presence has gradually been scaled back and he has appeared in three episodes so far this season.

As for Emmy-winning comedy veteran Curtin, she will play Rex’s mother and mentor, a successful law professor who falls in love with Rex’s shrink (Jeffrey Tambor).  David Semel is directing the pilot from a script by Andrew Leeds and David Lampson.

In a recent interview, Ramamurthy spoke on the tendency of studios to cast Indians in stereotypical roles, something the actor has refused to do.

“There isn’t any question about [the racism],” he says. “I’ve managed to luck out that they’ve given me a fully rounded character on the show, but in general, yeah. And you know, now more than ever I get everything “Indian” that’s ever written. It all comes across my desk. Since Heroes started I’ve probably had about 15 or 16 film scripts sent to me with Indian characters, and out of those maybe one was good. And the depressing thing is, they’re all being written by Indians! Like, how many more scripts can there be about an arranged marriage or an abusive husband? It’s the same thing over and over again. I think that Indian writers think this is the kind of thing that people want to see, and it’s kind of sad. I literally fling those scripts across the room as soon as I start reading them.”

Here’s a quick wrap up of Monday night’s Heroes.

First off, Hiro and Lydia traveled back eight weeks to see exactly how Joseph died- Samuel killed him. He was mad because Joseph had been keeping his true abilities from him. When Lydia and Hiro returned, Samuel tried to accuse Edgar of beign the killer. But Hiro stopped him and got Edgar out of there. At the end of the episode one of the carnies tried to erase Hiro’s memory but he disappeared.

Meanwhile at HRG’s family dinner, which included a reconciliation with his former partner Lauren, Claire showed her abilities by cutting herself and healing, causing her mother’s “date” to pass out. After dinner, Claire and Gretchen decided to go on a road trip before they have to be back to school. Claire took along the compass HRG stole from Samuel to find out what its all about.

At another Thanksgiving get-together, Angela admitted everything to Nathan and Peter. Nathan turned into Sylar and tired to kill her but the real Nathan fought his way out and saved his mother before disappearing. Peter vowed he would find his brother and try to save him.

This week’s plot revolves mostly around Hiro’s assignment from Samuel.

But first, Nathan and Peter arrive at the hospital and Parkman is revived, but in the process Sylar jumps back into Nathan’s body. Nathan and Peter fly away with Nathan knowing  he is Sylar.

Hiro receives a mission from Samuel, he has to go back eight weeks and get a film from Mohinder. We see Mohinder during this time and he’s happily, with a woman. She doens’t want him to look for his father’s stuff but he does anyway. He comes across an old movie that shows his dad at Coyote Sands, warning the camera about the powers of a newborn who turns out to be Samuel. This encourages Mohinder to pay Samuel a visit.

But Joseph won’t let Hiro talk to Samuel. He explains he’s been keeping his brother’s abilities secret for 40 years and won’t let anyone change that. Samuel overhears this and follows Mohinder back to his hotel room and kills him. But, Hiro stops time, jumps in and saves the movie along with Mohinder’s life. But he can’t risk Samuel finding out Mohinder is alive so he sticks Mohinder into a mental institute.
