Last night, Beyonce broke the record for most Grammys won by a female artist in one night when she collected six statuettes during the ceremony.

The singer, who was nominated for 10 awards, won song of the year for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and best female pop vocal performance for “Halo.” But, she lost the big prize, album of the year, to Taylor Swift who won for Fearless. At 20, Swift is the youngest person to ever win in the category.

Before last night’s win, Beyonce was in a six-way tie with Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Alison Krauss and Amy Winehouse for most Grammys won by a female artist in one ceremony (five). Her Grammy total as a solo artist is currently up to 13.

“Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” also nabbed the best female R&B performance and best R&B song awards. Additionally, Beyonce won best contemporary R&B album for I Am … Sasha Fierce and best traditional R&B performance for “At Last.”

It was a good night all the way around for Beyonce since her husband, Jay-Z, also took home three trophies. “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” won best rap solo performance and “Run This Town,” with Rihanna and Kanye West, won for best rap/sung collaboration and rap song.

Menawhile, Swift won three other Grammys for best country song and best female country and best country album.

Other winners included Lady Gaga who opened the show with Elton John and took home two trophies for dance recording (“Poker Face”) and electronic/dance album (The Fame).

Kings of Leon beat out Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Black Eyed Peas for record of the year for their hit song “Use Somebody.” They also got the best rock performance by a duo/group and best rock song prizes.

The Black Eyed Peas snagged three awards, including best pop vocal album for The E.N.D.

Country group Zac Brown Band took home the honor of best new artist, while Green Day won best rock album for 21st Century Breakdown.
