I’ve always been a big fan of Andy Richter. I’m not entirely sure why, by all accounts he’s not the funniest guy in the world or anything like that, but I have to admit it was great seeing him show up for the show last week. If you’re a Richter fan, you probably know that Andy Richter Controls the Universe comes out on DVD next month.

But that’s not all folks, he’ll actually be reunited with O’Brien on The Tonight Show as a regular announcer, woo hoo! Here’s the official announcement:

Conan O’Brien will have a familiar face when he begins his new “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” on NBC where he will reunite with Andy Richter (“Late Night with Conan O’Brien”) — for the first time on a daily basis in almost nine years — as the network announced that Richter will return to its late-night lineup as the announcer for the new show that begins June 1. In addition to his announcing duties, Richter will participate in comedic pieces.

There’s more, and Conan goes on to say that Richter is one of the funniest people he knows. Pretty high praise from the new host of The Tonight Show. Richter will also have a role in the upcoming animated series on Nickelodeon called The Penguins of Madagascar. Personally I’d settle for more Avatar, but I’m not sure Andy would have a place in that series…
